New Firearms Forms

#1 Post by dave_303 »

I've just had my FAC returned from a variation for the second time in as many weeks from Avon and Somerset, the first time was fair cop, my mistake, I filled out the forms and forgot to sign the declaration, that was my cock up.

This time though they sent it back saying I had used the wrong forms (using the typeable versions available on here) I couldn't figure this out so went to their page and found this.

https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/a ... -shotguns/

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? My main annoyance is that they didn't in their first rejection letter tell me that I needed these new forms. I thought forms were a standard across the country and did not differ. wtfwtf

The forms changed just before xmas - for eg, no longer required to have an ammo quantity to buy and a seperate to hold quantity - my ticket changed from old style to new in December when I varied a rifle off (new rifle returned as defective).

When your FAC comes back you should find that you can buy as many as you could hold previously and the layout will look a little different.

I've filled those forms out, it is the forms you mention that A&S are telling me are out of date!!! Apparently they have been using a different form again since May?

Ah! I almost fell foul of this... but luckily I contacted the FEO before hand and asked what forms he required and was told "only the ones on their firearms webpage"

But are they the same as Avon & Somersets? are they different from the ones posted on the forum? To my knowledge, all of the previous forms (101 if i recall) were exactly the same regardless of constabulary.

They're the same as the one's issued by Police Scotland.

The forms below are new as of the 20th May 2014. If you have printed forms prior to this date but have not yet submitted them, please print and complete the new version. Forms submitted to Firearms Licensing prior to this date will be processed as normal.

They look a little better than the older version although requiring all the same information but in a different order and only need one signature rather than each page. Some further tidying up and using the formats of both could result in a reduction in size from 11 pages to around 8.

However, they have failed yet again to make them completable within a PDF writer which means either completing by hand or knowing how to do it in Adobe Reader. A simple set up by the creator would make it so much easier.

If they made them such that all details could be added electronically then I could send them an electronic copy along with a single signature page and they would not need to scan the whole document - that would save them money.
