FAC Shotgun Conditions - NEW NATIONAL CONDITIONS
The new wording below has been agreed to by the Police & has been accepted by the Home Office , but the changes were too late for inclusion in the newest Guidelines. An amendment is due later in the year...
The wording has been uploaded onto the NFLMS (National Firearms Licensing Management System) computers. So even without the updated Guidance to hand, ALL Firearms Departments WILL be aware of the change.
The Condition should now read:
(Condition number XX)
a. The smoothbore gun(s) to which this certificate relates shall be used for target shooting on land or ranges where the holder has lawful authority to shoot (provided that adequate financial arrangements are in place to meet any injury or damage claim), for disciplines and courses of fire approved by the BWSS or NRA or NTSA or UKPSA.
b. The solid slug ammunition to which this certificate relates shall be used for target shooting on ranges where the holder has lawful authority to shoot provided that adequate financial arrangements are in place to meet any injury or damage claim.
Crack on.
I've sent my e-mail in asking for an FAC reprint with the new condition change added.

Re: FAC Shotgun Conditions - NEW NATIONAL CONDITIONS
Presumably any clay pigeon condition will still stand.
However (and I don't have quite this on mine), current guidance states:
" The SMOOTH-BORE GUN/SOLID SLUG shall be used for practical target shooting:
(a) on ranges which are legally and safely constructed and maintained;
(b) over a course of fire approved by a qualified member of the UKPSA/NTSA on land over
which the holder has lawful authority to shoot."
Does this new conditioning imply that slugs are now ONLY for use on formal ranges, NOT on courses of fire on non-range land?

Re: FAC Shotgun Conditions - NEW NATIONAL CONDITIONS
That seems like less hassle to me.
Am I reading that right?
Am I reading that right?
When someone says "it's not about the money" you know what? it probably is all about money!
Re: FAC Shotgun Conditions - NEW NATIONAL CONDITIONS
That's a backwards step from what I have on my FAC :(
Mine says:
'.. shall be used for target shooting, and only whilst a member of xxxxx club, on ranges suitable for the safe use of that class of firearm and with adequate financial arrangements in place to meet any injury or damage claim'
All of my firearms are listed in the above condition.

Durhams also says "over a course of fire approved by a qualified member of the UKPSA"
The new wording suggests (to me at least) that it has to be approved by a national body/organisation not just a qualified member as currently worded.

There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

Very rare to not have all sorts of extra conditions...in your case things may stay as they aretechguy wrote:That's a backwards step from what I have on my FAC :(

OR it could mean a course of fire that is listed from an established competition or the like, run by one of the above named oeganisations.phaedra1106 wrote:Durhams also says "over a course of fire approved by a qualified member of the UKPSA"

The most common wording at present mentions UKPSA & no other organisations (from my experience)
Re: FAC Shotgun Conditions - NEW NATIONAL CONDITIONS
Which essentially means that individual clubs can't run their own PSG competitions unless the COF is approved from one of the organisational bodies.
Sounds bo...cks if you ask me. :(

Re: FAC Shotgun Conditions - NEW NATIONAL CONDITIONS
Not really a problem as i only use slug on ranges but my slug currently has no condition attached.
Re: FAC Shotgun Conditions - NEW NATIONAL CONDITIONS
My current wording for the first part reads "course of fire approved by a qualified member of the..."
ALL the new wording requires is that the course of fire is the same as one already in use, it does not need MrZYX from UKXXX to ruck up & sign off that the course is ok
