Positioning of safes.

Has anyone had any problems with Brattonsound safes if they are fixed in the horizontal position as opposed to the more conventional upright position?
Just wondered if the levers and pins work as effectively.
P's. Safe doors have handles fitted so they can be opened easily!

I have one mounted on its back bolted to a concrete floor. Locks and unlocks fine but is heavy to open, I pegged a piece of broomhandle onto each end of some packaging strapping after first putting one end through the rear hinge gap. Whne I clost the door I do so on the strapping so that it hangs on the outside, it is then easy to open the door just by lifting the end up, the broomhandle makes for a good grip and the one on the other end of the strapping stops it pulling through.

I did the divorce and house move at the same time about 15 years ago - this one is a walk in the park in comparison, apart from my body hurts in places I didn't know existed.

Mine is on it's back, no issues. I fitted two handles to the door for the above reason and so I was not pulling it up by the key.
You need to be mega careful never to let the door drop on you, it doesn't bare thinking about.

Sounds like what I've done, except I used a loop of paracord and put the knotted end in the notch at the top of the bolt side of the door.

Mines flat on it's back as well, no problems so far with locking it. To open the door I've been using a "Double Suction Lifter" like the picture below. Just place it between the locks, push the tabs down and hey presto instant door handle.

Works perfectly every time.

Having recently had a door fall on my hand while putting it upright (the bottom pin holding the door in had snapped off - not good) I can testify to how heavy the doors are. That only fell a few inches, it doesn't bear thinking about what it would be like if it was laid down and the door slammed on your hand.

Ouch!
I have handles fitted to the doors to aid the opening but think I will have to fashion up a chain and hook to hold the doors while I am having a rummage inside. I may have to ask one of our resident bondage experts for a few pointers
