What is a Sapper? This versatile genius condenses the whole system of military engineering and all that is useful and practical. He is a man of all work of the Army and the public ready to do anything or go anywhere, in short, he is a Sapper.

Very easy to answer - my Steyr SSG69 with calibrated Kahles fixed power scope. I regularly drag it through mud, gorse and heather. It bounces around in the back of the truck and yet when on the hill, i dial in the range and it never lets me down. My 'reach to' gun when multiple, quick shots at varying ranges is required such as when culling hinds, etc.

My one gripe is the stupid bloody plastic magazines.

I only have a handful to choose from but if I had to choose one it'd be my No.4. I'd just have to hope that "dinner" wasn't too far away!

Tough call.

Although my No4 feels the nicest, with a silky smooth bolt and since im patriotic so it should be top of my list-its has to be my K98 im afraid.

Yes its a used/abused example and someone i know refers to it as "the old fence post",but its just so accurate-even with 60 year old milsurp.

I have reoiled the stock since this photo was taken so it now dont look as dog rough!

Nice K98 Steve, I have had a hankering for one ever since I frightened a frame at 1000 yards with Dirtbag's (On this forum) with 1950's machine gun ammunition, it was a nice rifle to shoot.

Oddly, mine shoots real well with old machine gun ammo too. When i got it last year i bought a few hundred rounds of the grottiest looking milsurp you've ever seen. The brass was blackened with oxidisation, greasy and you could see where the links connected them together for machine guns yet this stuff really was fantastically accurate and much better than new FNM rounds.

It might not look a million dollars, but i cant fault its accuracy.
