I doubt whether semi-auto shotguns and pistols are needed in European countries either, but they have them .... we don't. ;)
I have a Mossberg JM 930 Pro - Section 1 Shotgun - takes 9 cartridges in the tube - my "need" being for Practical Shotgun Matches that get shot in the UK (club and IPSC).

Other than PSG - There's justification for a Sec 1 shotgun for Rabbiting (Farmer for eg) although I understand that they aren't allowed for avian species (could be wrong but I currently don't shoot game / vermin as no permissions over land for it).

Vermin, pigeons, crows etc. That's what I have my S1's down for alongside practical/target/clays.

On the plus side, unlike with, for example, scottish government-imposed firearms restriction, shooters will have the support of UKIP on this issue, as it is coming from the EU.

And how many handguns do you blokes in the UK have? And I'm talking about the ones without extended barrels and stocks?

I'm well aware that semi-auto shotguns are available here.

There was no argument the ban was not extended to some parts that's all. It wasn't extended to this part of the UK thanks to Mo Mowlam and most of our MP/S who opposed the ban. Maybe because we could see better than others that firearms were not a problem, but the people willing to use them for criminal purposes. Also people here don't seem of have the same anti-gun views as some in the rest of the UK.
