EU wants to ban more types of legal firearm

#1 Post by Gaz »

Google translation from the original article in German.
Indeed, the Commission thinks now has a ban on weapons requiring approval of Category B - those are pistols, revolvers and semi-automatic self-loading rifles - after.

A few thoughts:

a) These EU categories of firearms seem to have been written around UK law, if you take Cat A as Section 5, Cat B as (still S5 for us) pistols/self-loading rifles, Cat C as all other Section 1 fireams and Cat D as shotguns. Have our politicians exported our damaging and restrictive laws to Europe? (makes a change from it happening the other way round...)

b) Is this likely to impact on us, for example in banning multi-shot shotguns and/or long .22 pistols?

c) What can we do to help our brothers-in-arms in Europe? Given that the European Commission is safely divorced from the EU "parliament" and other methods by which ordinary people can kill off rubbish like this...

I think a class-action suit by all UK firearms owners against our government, seeing as we are currently members of the EU, demanding parity with gun owners in Germany, Austria, Finland etc etc for ownership of pistols would be a good place to start. ;)

That is the best idea I've heard in a long time....I pledge £100 if you want campaign funds,if every shooter did the same we could really change things...

As far as I know, 'class action' isn't possible in the UK. It's a US thing.

"No one needs a semi-auto shotgun"...

Get used to that phrase.

We will not get handguns back. Shake-off that notion now.

Semi-auto rifles perhaps but not handguns.

I doubt whether semi-auto shotguns and pistols are needed in European countries either, but they have them .... we don't. ;)

The suggestion was merely to highlight the differences once again between Europe and the UK. We are expected to follow their lead, and kowtow to their demands, but it is clearly a one way street. :bad:

Alas, I agree.

Europe will make demands to lower capability. Most other countries will say no - except the UK who will capitulate (as usual).
