Re: Chamber Cleaning...
As above, pistol mop on a short rod. .45 cal mop works OK in .308 chamber.
Re: Chamber Cleaning...
+1 with Dave. The US army issued kit costs peanuts, add couple of cotton buds + tooth picks & it will contain everything you need to look after the AR, so much I end up using it all the time instead of my pricey Otis. Failing that, you can get an AK and don't bother with the cleaning

Right, chamber looking better. Cheap borescope for a proper squint?
Re: Chamber Cleaning...
I use a woolly brush on a standard rod with a couple of pieces of 2/4 wound on the same way as you do with a jag - when you push it in to the chamber and rotate it, it takes the shape of the chamber and throat...seems to work OK, and one size fits all (well .303, .308 and 6.5 anyway).

Charlie Muggins wrote:Ever seen the 'chamber sticks' for .303/.308 rifles? Basically a hardwood dowel with a slot at one end and squared enough to grip firmly at the other. 4x2 in the slot, add solvent then jam it in the back end and gizzer a twist. I reckon you could make one for 5.56 with a foot of 9mm dowel.

A modified wooden knitting needle 'borrowed' from an ageing Aunt works equally as well
