The 'Buzz'

#1 Post by dodgyrog »

I have to say that since the pistol days when I was competing all the time I have enjoyed shooting my rifles but have not had that competitive 'Buzz' I felt back then.
Today, however, it returned - with a bang, so to speak!
I have played around with .22 Benchrest for over a year now but have had indifferent results gradually improving.
I sold a collectable rifle the other day and used the money (plus a tad more! - and then some) to buy a customised rifle dedicated for the benchrest sport. I have had it for just one and a half weeks and the adrenaline is rising. I shot two possibles this morning and all I wanted was more X's!
The 'Buzz' is back! :shakeshout:

So what rocks your boat?

Are you sure about that Roger?

When I saw you shooting it I thought the buzzing was coming from those Chinese love beads you said were stuck up your :squirrel: after the string broke and you couldn't pull them back out?

I must admit, I did wonder why you keep so much boolit lube handy ............................. :run:

.22 BR for me too , getting to old for running around or laying down with a rifle , so sitting at a bench just about suits me ,
My shooting bud who is nearly 70 now likes shooting x's only and I prefer groups but we only do it to challenge ourselves each week .
Getting an old Anschutz or BSA to shoot well with the right ammo is half the fun as well .
Then sitting on the veranda of the club house which is on a farm for coffee [ decaf ] and a chat in the warm summer morning is bliss .

That's got to be my No. 2.
Cast boolits are the way to go. As you say (frequently), these condom bullets will never last!

Sticking them all in at 900yds despite having a zero arrived at mostly by educated guesswork. Full credit to the wind coach who somehow coped with that setup!
