it does have M3 EXP-01 on the side along with .223 rem.

Go for it all....... I did!!!!.I love my SVDS, it shoots nice with no extraction problems and has been ultra reliable but they are rare in the UK and mine is one of only a handful.

Regarding the 1:7 twist, mine didn't like the heavier stuff and shot best with 62gn surplus RG ammo - OK with 69 SMK's but not great - but each rifle is different.
