Not quite. The licence in Scotland will be separate from FAC/SGC's.

Will it not add up to the same thing, if you don't have a licence and have a air rifle you are in trouble.

I was a bit loath to jump in on this thread until I retrieved my "proof". I was looking for something else today and thought it would be in the same place, it wasn't. What is wasn't? It's a letter from Alex Salmond, when he sat in Westminster. I wrote to him originally over the Dunblane massacre. Salmond, in late 1996 stated in a letter to me that it was the SNP's position that there was no place in Scottish society for any type of gun. 18 years on, it appears they haven't abandoned that "ideal". R|egistration most definitely leads to confiscation.

I'm afraid our countrymen North of the Border are on a one way ticket if the SNP get their way in September...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Having read the bill it all seems fairly reasonable to me. Apply for your certificate, get your certificate, carry on shooting. It's not clear to me that there's something self-evidently wrong about the legislation. If there is, what is it?

In that case can I not only be the first to openly welcome you to the forum, but in a small effort to continue your post, suggest that you offer to put your money where your opinions are & pay for the Scottish based forum members air weapons certificates...

Only £150 per person

I'm sure the other forum users will agree that my suggestion is very reaonable

Where's the benefit in licensing air rifles? They're not really very threatening.

Muscle flexing

Population (only of the legal shooter variety) control

Media publicity bunfest

Political one-upmanship

...the reasons are many...and they'll all be bugger all to do with "crime" or "public safety"

I meant in terms of safety, but I can see the other angle, it's a cheap win.

It is crazy.

Also, one joule is the minimum. So. That makes a Nerf gun subject to licensing in Scotland, and you have to be 14 to get one.

Seem a little bit mental?!?

Salmond saw how well he and his cronies did (politically) after Dunblane.
I hate the man with a passion.
