Re: Which media
I use walnut rather than corn cob.
I have found that walnut cleans quicker and better than corn cob, corn cob seems to polish better though and brass is shiner if corncob is used.
As shiny brass or shiny anything is something I don't like I go for the walnut as it cleans very well and that is what I'm after.
I always add a few drops of car polish diluted 50/50 in white spirit when first using a batch of media, I also run some cut up kitchen towels now and then to pick up the dust and few drops of white spirit every so often freshens the media up.
I use a very fine ground walnut that I have been using for years, it runs like water, doesn't clog and cleans the best.

Same here. 20/40 grit walnut with ammonia-free car/metal polish diluted with white spirit. 25Kg sack sourced from eBay per my post on the other thread.dromia wrote:I use walnut rather than corn cob.

Then avert your eyes sir!dromia wrote:As shiny brass or shiny anything is something I don't like
I got these out the tumbler a few hours ago - I know it's not necessary to go this far, but with the new toys I've got recently I got a bit carried away on this batch...they were clean enough to use as they were, but I gave them the full treatment, and then stuck them back in the tumbler for a few more hours...they're well shiny! razz
Re: Which media
Been using the really fine walnut media today and all I can say is wow!! The brass looks brand new and no clogged primer pockets!! :)!
