What about a cheap spring balance?.....like the ones Asda etc sell for weighing suitcases when you go away.Maybe not super accurate but it may be near enough to give you an idea.

Now that's a good idea. Incremental pull until it goes click...(or bang, if drills go out the window..) :grin:

The cheapest way is to use a Wheeler trigger pull scale. They are around the £25 mark. The most accurate way is to use a Lyman trigger pull gauge - around the £60 mark. They are both shown here:-
