As CDM5 says, If it is a standard M4 style stock, and many others, then pull the adjusting lever the opposite way (from the way you squeeze it to adjust the length).

Cheers lads, ive taken the old one of and the new one just slides straight on, the only bad thing is where the old one returns when you let go of the thing you press in to move it, the new one wont I don't know if ive got to adjust it or what, the new one ive put on is the one with the adjustable cheek from Fab Defence.

If it just slides on and off when you press the paddle/switch to adjust the length then its not set up properly. You should have to pull the paddle/switch the opposite way to normal to both put it on and take it off. There is usually a way to put more tension on the paddle/switch. Have a Google/youtube search for info how to do it with your particular model if it didn't come with instructions
