I ended up next to Dromia a few years ago, we had a bloody good laugh...but I woke up to a noise in the early hours thinking I was on the African plains! :lol:

My usual camping neighbors at the Phoenix will at least get a good nights sleep-apparently I snore after a skin-full but I dont believe it.
Cant make it this year due to the new arrival in the family but not sure if my head could take another hangover like last years, thanks to Dougan :cheers:

I've had a bit of a root online looking for some sort of timetable, so that I can cherry pick which events to watch and where. But I have not had any luck.
I really need to see how these competitions are run and what folk are using and to ask them why.
Any suggestions on which GRCF events that a total novice might benefit from watching would be appreciated.
If you're at Melville for a few hours you'll get a chance to see most of the courses of fire - The different types of shooting (GRCF. GFSB, and pistols) are often run side by side on the same courses of fire, some of which like T&P1 (Timed and Precision 1) are almost running constantly...
...T&P1, Multi-target and Advancing Target are very popular, especially for beginners (relatively short and simple courses of fire)...just ask a range officer which bays are running what, and they'll point you in the right direction.
I'm told that the numbers of entries for the Phoenix were up this year and that the trade show was very busy on Saturday. It certainly wasn't busy yesterday when I visited, in fact it looked very quiet indeed.
Never mind I stocked up on bullets, powder and gathered some information on a potential new purchase and enjoyed a good day out. Some trade stands were however noticeable by their absence, the shooting shed for instance.
I went yesterday, the same old stands were there. The same old tat that nobody wants was there as usual. Couple of good stands, I picked up some reloading stuff and a couple of books. Oh and another mag for my bora from low mill.
There was a stand selling straight pull AR's for £3k!! Not heard of the company before, didn't take too much notice after seeing that price tag. £3k!!
I have heard some less than favourable reports on the F Class comps from people including abysmal marking and the wrong targets being used, I certainly know of one effer that gave up in disgust. Apparently the CSR shooters were not given the correct targets either.
Minority disciplines getting the thin edge of the wedge. The downside is F Class and CSR are two of the shooting disciplines demonstrating significant growth....

I wouldn't describe F-Class as a minority discipline, and I don't think anyone in particular is getting the thin edge of the wedge...a few weeks back there was a queue of people, from all disciplines, at the range office complaining about the marking...
...since the paying of markers changed last year (now having to tax at source) there has been a real problem getting quality markers...the problem is that if they pay more to get better markers, then range and comp fees would go up and we'd complain about that...personally I don't know what the solution is, and don't envy those having to deal with it.
