hi-just had some brain storm/bright/not so bright idea and before to go any further have a question to all of you-
where do I land if I decide to clad marlin .22WMR semiauto rifle in L85A2 airsoft outfit...?serious answers pls-thnx
You own a S1 firearm, licensed as such. What you bolt to the outside / paint it / hang off the bottom / etc is almost completely irrelevant.
You could break the law if you dressed it up to the point where it was "disguised as another object" which would move it to S5 FA 68. There are numerous examples in the Guidance as to what constitutes "disguise". Paint, and a different stock (which is what you are planning) are not "disguise" IMHO.
my biggest concern is not to get another licence-for historical reenactment or UKARA,just keep it under S1,but yes-my intentions are make it look as the real thing-but how it can be S5 only by the look???it is still .22WMR perfectly S1 thing...

Section 5 Firearms Act 1968 (as amended)
1A)Subject to section 5A of this Act, a person commits an offence if, without the authority of the Secretary of State [or the Scottish Ministers (by virtue of provision made under section 63 of the Scotland Act 1998], he has in his possession, or purchases or acquires, or sells or transfers—
(a)any firearm which is disguised as another object;
It is almost certainly the case that you are not in breach of this by what you intend (as I explained above) but if you want the argument, that's it.
It is very possible, and TAOFledermaus of Youtube has an excellent tutorial on shoehorning a 10/22 into a £30 P90. I have considered such a thing, as I am sure many shooters have. The two primary reasons I have not are:
(1) Airsoft toys are generally either (a) expensive or (b) crap, even if just used to donate their furniture
(2) It wouldn't exactly help the general effort if a filthy journo (Gaz exempted) found out about it; "Toy gun converted with household tools to fire automatic bullets of same calibre as army rifles".
ok,no arguments here,got the message,it was the wording as usual,thnx for all suggestions-anyway it is very long shot project,initially to be 30 M1 carbine but yanks not willing to export even replica stocks- -I spotted something on gunstar and here we are-it is very tempting but double checking from all sides... sign92
