Re: Unlikely professions as shooters
My club is full of all sorts. A train driver, mechanics, insurance, IT, police and prison service, military, both regular and PMC, doctors and a radiologist and we even have a judge! One of our past members was a nuclear physicist who was employed on Britain nuclear deterrent! When the government said effectively, that he could work on WMD Monday to Friday but couldn't shoot a .22 pistol at the weekend, he was off. The Americans snapped him up and he flew out of Heathrow with his pistols in the hold..... How much did the country "lose" that day?
A very large proportion of our ranks are ex-military.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

The clubs I shot with back in Bristol also had a reasonable number of ex-servicemen, however, bar a few who did National Service I can only recall one who was actually in a combat arm, all the others have been rear echelon.

Palace of Westminster had a range back in the pistol days. Guess there is a group who really did shoot themselves in the foot. Not sure how many members were MP's & Lords, I suspect many were staff of some sort or another.
