I'm sure some of the surplus ammo dealers will have them, however ... ... ...

Aren't tracer rounds prohibited for civilian use on most ranges - AFAIK they certainly are on MoD ranges and many others.

Simplyammo have some 7.62 Nato Tracer... maybe you could pull the bullets and reseat them in 54R. smile2

Tracer are not allowed on our range, but even if they were apparently they wouldnt light up in the 50m we have.

We don't think Soviet 7.62 mm are the same as 7.62 NATO mm: it's the old .311 vs .308 debate. MIght be a bit of a squeeze.

Correct on the bullet diameter. The Russian round is more like 0.311.
For what its worth I loaded some 308 tracer bullets in 303 cases and used them out of my No4.
They illuminated and went down range!
And tracer is allowed on some MOD/Landmarc field firing ranges. Local rules allowing etc as per other recent thread!

Are shiny bullets allowed at Diggle? We plan to go there one day and quite like the thought of taking one of our Mosins along to light the place up.

You were just jealous of the pretty lights hitting the 1800yd ETR in the rain!!

You seemed to enjoy the day with the Draganov despite the weather.

You're right there Mike!!!!......some very impressive shooting from you guys on that 1800y ETR tongueout

I had the best days shooting so far and was consistently hitting out to 700m with the Dragunov and milsurp ammo despite the wind and rain and around 500m with the AKM with the ironsights, I can't wait for my next trip out there!.I'm thinking of tracer so it will give me a chance of hitting the 1000m ETR as I couldn't tell where my shots were falling when engaging that one.

The wind was making it interesting, we were using between 8-12 minutes of wind at 1000yds depending on how it was blowing!

At 1800 I was using 22.5 minutes of wind and still had the odd round go well left with the gusts.
