Which we all said at the time was a load of rubbish...

Geographically it is actually in a very good place to serve the maximum amount of people in the UK
How do you come to that conclusion Dougan?
to replicate it else where would run to 7 figures
How do you know that?
so what would be the point of trying to run meetings somewhere else?
Well Dougan, as I have stated before mate, not everyone lives close to Bisley, so how far are you from Bisley? An hour? a bit more than an hour?. I can think of three ranges of the top of my head North of the Watford gap were meets could be held on a rotational basis. I reckon if they did that they may have more competitors taking part, then again maybe not if it means folks South of the Watford gap having to do what the Northerners, Welsh, Northern Irish and Scots have to do to get to Bisley.

I don't believe that Bisley is all that central, in fact I believe that numbers would increase if it were held somewhere north of Watford say every other year. Tell me Dougan, if it were to be held up in Catterick, would you attend? From Dorset that's something like an 800 mile round trip mate.

Blu
How do I come to the conclusion about 7 figures.....I'm assuming you've been to Bisley Blu (?) - The area is huge...apart from the ranges (more than I can be bothered to list right now), there's club houses, accommodation blocks, caravan areas, places to eat ect. and not to mention a very large danger area.....I recon it would cost a lot more than £10, 000, 000 (7 figures) to build something similar somewhere else......also Bisley has a historical feel that you couldn't replicate.

Placed where it is, Bisley is accessible to most of the South, which (and don't blame me for the fact) is the most densely populated part of the UK - Where it is, to the west of London also makes it reasonably accessible to Devon, Cornwall and the Midlands - You obviously wouldn't want it any further south west, but likewise if you put it further north east, then it becomes more than a 'day trip' for the south west...

I'm over a hundred miles from Bisley, but the M3 takes me to within 5 miles of the place so I can do it in 1.5 hours without traffic - I go there at least a dozen times a year, and stay overnight for some meetings; so probably spend around a grand a year (just petrol, accommodation and expenses) to shoot there...

...If it were in Catterick I'd probably have to go less through the year, but would still go to the big meetings like the Phoenix and Trafalgar...In fact I'd probably shoot 3 instead of 2 days to make the petrol cost more palatable...

Why does it have to be a Bisley there you go again Bisley Bisley Bisley just a accessible range in the North east of England with reasonable range distances to shoot on without having to rely on MOD ranges that are very expensive that's all we ask for. For instance booking 12 range dates for the year at Caterick then been told you are not allowed to use the electronic targets on the ranges you have booked.
Yes it turns out it is a local issue after all but we are stuck with it. So now we have to change our bookings to Gallery ranges more expense.
Some help up here down there or what ever please. But it aint going to happen. Like I said before if you live within driving distance of Bisley join the NRA if you can not make it to Bisley don't bother join BASC.
In the mean time us guys down here up there or what ever are just getting on with it as usual we have been getting on with it for quite a lot of years now with out any help from the NRA =NATIONAL BISLEY RIFLE ASSOCIATION>

Sorry to bang on about Bisley, I'm just trying to make the point that its location isn't the NRA's fault...

...and don't think I don't share your frustration about relying on MOD ranges...we've got our own problems down here too...

Mike,i think you'll find that's Bisley shooting ground and nothing to do with the NRA.
