A former colleague was a Lt-Commander (Steamy) on board and arranged it for me when she was in the channel and I was in Portsmouth. Helicopter out and then a flight back as the aircraft were leaving the ship - they rarely leave the fixed wings on board when in harbour but station them ashore. Hitting the ramp is an interesting experience.
My boss and his boss were not happy as they could not even get a visit!
And no, camera stayed at home.
