What a Muppet

#1 Post by Stuck »

This is going to be long winded so bare with me please.

A few weeks ago shooting 1000 yards at Diggle the weather was a little odd; firstly the wind was blowing down the valley instead of up it & secondly it was quite foggy.

When i say foggy you could see the safety flag on top of the hill behind the backstop but you couldn't make out the rings on any of the targets. wtfwtf

In desperation i started twiddling everything that can be twiddled on my scope (including the eyepiece focus) but nothing seemed to help, anyway 22 desperate shots later my score wasn't too bad & I came second in F/TR.

Fast forward 2 weeks & it's back to Diggle at 900 yards, by shot 5 I can tell something is very wrong as I'm all over the place, so much so that I came last on zero points.

It was only when I got home i remembered buggering about with my scope 2 weeks earlier when trying to shoot through fog.

Finally to the question

Would you expect messing up your scopes eyepiece focus to cause such problems or is something else seriously out of kilter?

That 900 yarder was a very difficult shoot - the wind let-offs were chucking many into the 'ones' with little indication on the flags. Some normally competent shots were almost reduced to tears. Don't blame your scope!
