New Petition - Part 2 (Number of signatures: 13,188)

#1 Post by HALODIN »

As the original thread is locked I thought I'd create another thread.

The original thread is here --> http://www.full-bore.co.uk/viewtopic.ph ... 88#p183447

Did anyone receive this through e-mail?
Dear HALODIN,

The e-petition 'Allow the ownership and use of .22 calibre Rimfire pistols for sporting purposes in England, Wales and Scotland.' signed by you recently reached 13,076 signatures and a response has been made to it.

As this e-petition has received more than 10 000 signatures, the relevant Government department have provided the following response: The Government continues to monitor all aspects of the current controls on firearms. There are, however, no plans to re-categorise any weapons within the Firearms Acts or to repeal any of the existing bans. The Government recognises that people who compete at international level in any sport need to train on a regular and intensive basis. The special arrangements that permitted British pistol squad members to have to access to secure facilities in the UK to enable them to carry out their training in advance of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London will continue for squad members in preparation for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the 2016 Olympic and Paralympics Games in Rio. This e-petition remains open to signatures and will be considered for debate by the Backbench Business Committee should it pass the 100 000 signature threshold.

View the response to the e-petition

Thanks,

Yes, but like Blu said we've just got to keep on them.

Agreed, plus I wouldn't expect anything else at this point. I'm surprised the signatory count is so low, it was shooting up early on in the campaign, but it looks like we might have hit terminal velocity. 100K is a long way to go...

Given the number of sportsmen/women in the UK that shoot that number on the last petition speaks volumes. I get the impression there are a lot of folks who are like frightened sheep

What this petition tells me is that their is a small percentage of shooters in the UK who would like to own and shoot hand guns.
The rest of the shooting community are not interested in owning or shooting hand guns otherwise they would of signed the petition.
You insulting people or calling people A holes is not going to change that you just show your ignorance.
