Re: A handy list of anti-shooting MPs
Well I would be happy to support this rise in fees if in return they repealed the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 and the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997. Would seem a fair return for the increased cost I would think...
If they can't do that then I see no reason to raise the fees especially considering how much of a contradictory mess it currently is with each force making it up as they go along! Sort the mess out and they would save some money!

THE GREATER GOODChuck wrote:"Greater good" is the language of the anti's and gun ban brigade. Same as "reasonable steps" and "common sense gun laws", they are always anything but that. Best not use that language IMOSurely making sure firearms owners are legit is for the greater good? It's certainly not for our benefit only!

Re: A handy list of anti-shooting MPs
as someone currently into the 3rd week of a variation, who has been told his file is still with the dept that makes background checks, I suspect the Police could easily reduce the cost of administering the FAC with a little common sense and good will! background checks for someone with an FAC? surely if something shows up on a background check then I should have already had a knock on the door? if it doesn't then whats the point of the Police National computer?

"A handy list of ignorant MPs" could be a better title. Ignorant of the fact that we pay our taxes for policing too. And we pay taxes for a lot of things we don't use.

MPs: Everyone has to wear a blue baseball cap from now on. These will only be available from the Government. They cost the Government £196. We'll sell you them for £50.
Update: On realising our mistake, rather than go through the arduous process of sourcing a cheaper blue hat, or allowing you to not wear one, we propose that you pay £196 for the hat.

Re: A handy list of anti-shooting MPs
I'm confused as to how FAC's can cost so much, how can it cost £200 to do what cant really take that long in the first place. I mean everything is computerised nowadays, isn't it just a case of typing a name into a computer and seeing what comes up, then a 30 minute home visit?
