Use of electronic targetry on MOD ranges now banned

Good for you but I have yet to see such progress, also there is surely something organisationally remiss if every issue takes the involvement of the CEO to resolve that just fills me with even more despair.

I am always ready to help and have pro actively offered my services to the NRA in the past with no response.

At a local level I commit a lot of time and energy to developing shooting however the lack of support at a national level makes it more difficult. Whether people here choose to believe that or not is up to them but I do put a lot of effort into shooting and supporting shooters, in spite of the national bodies, and not just the NRA. If people just want to dismiss me as an NRA naysayer then so be it but I say it as I see it and walk the talk. In the NE we have yet to see the NRA walk the talk. The north south divide is very real as this example shows and some meaningful communication would go a long way to maintaining good will, which is being sorely stretched. What I say about the NRA is felt by all the shooters up here I come in contact with, many of whom are EX NRA members, much as people would like to negate my message by attacking me listen to what is said as it does have substance and is actually done to try and better the NRA's performance beyond Bisley.

Shoot the messenger if you will but don't ignore the message.

We haven't fired a round at you Dromia, nor do we intend to ! We know just how Bisley centric the NRA is. This wasn't their finest hour, but surely it's fair to recognise the efforts being made, however late and small they may seem, to resolve both this and the wider issues and aid where we can ? It's the only NRA we have...

The ranges are for the benefit of the military and they are their toys, to do with as they wish. We may not like that, or even agree with it, but it is how things are. On the whole, we do quite well as civilian shooters in that we are generally allowed to play with the toys the army pay for and maintain.

Remember who pays for the army.
We don't get a say in how they spend their millions, but we should at least get to play with their toys when practical. Especially when their frivolous spending actually impedes the tax payer in his/her pursuits.

Things must be on the up, as Kings Lynn St Michaels Rifle & Pistol Club, have issued range dates for the STANTA ETR ranges here in Norfolk for May, June and July.

Had an email today from SO2 Targetry, there is no MoD Policy preventing Civilian use of SARTS. It was his view that they system is easy to operated and it would be up to the local RSU to determine whether they were happy for civilian clubs to operate it themselves or require them to pay for a Landmarc Range Warden to operate it on their behalf. He did point out, however, that what can be done on the system is restricted to what is laid down in the AOSP and that manual mode or self programming is not possible on ETR layouts.
