Aquiring a firearm - which form?

#1 Post by phaedra1106 »

Just in the process of selling a rifle and noticed on the new form 202 there's no section for a buyer to notify plod of his purchase.

Is there now a specific form for this or do we just use the "old" method of writing or emailing with the details?.

I was given the old forms for notification when I handed in a 202 for variation. I was also told that Police Scotland will accept notification of sale/purchase by email.

Sent from my boing using "An application"

What old Home Office form existed prior to the Form 202 which allowwd the BUYER to give notice of a purchase?
My understanding was the purchase is written on the FAC and the buyer gives notification within 7 days in writing or by email.
Then and now. No change.

The new Form 202 is better for THE SELLER as it allows you to give notification of sale AND apply for a free one for one variation at the same time. You ONLY list the changes on the new form, not the dead sea scrolls list of everything in the safe (s) as per the old Form 101

Just to be pedantic .... having decided that I don't need a 1 for 1 variation (as I have a free slot for the same calibre) Form 202 states it's for a variation and my FAC must be enclosed with it, so, if I'm only notifying a sale what form am I supposed to use?.

Emailed the usual PDF copy of my own notification form :good:

Also added a nice little note asking what they were doing with Jareds application, it's now been 126 days since handing it in :bad:

You'll lose the slot if you don't ask for a 1-for-1 variation remember, then you'll have to pay to get it back later.

Put in for a moderator, whether or not you actually want one - you can get a free 1-4-1 variation for an actual firearm later on, as I understand it.

I have 2 empty slots now so don't really need anything else, but the main problem is Durham are taking forever even with variations and form 202 states you must return your existing FAC with the form so I won't be able to buy anything until it comes back.
