Ahhhh Metal Storm:
Lots of venture capital
Lots of flashy presentations
Lots of flashy promo videos
Lots of appearances on "Weapon systems of the future" programs
In the end it didn't really add up to that practical of a weapon system, they never did sort out the issue of reloading it.
A footnote of weapons development history...

Voluntary Administration I believe.
The ADF was going to purchase the 3GL luncher for their upgraded Steyrs but AFAIK it came to nothing.

I thought there were plans to stick these on warships to act as 'goal keepers.'
Who knows, though. We're stagnant at the moment when it comes to firearm design. There'll need to be another 'propa war' to get people designing again.*
*Not that I'm advocating war just so I can get a fancy lasgun. I use an SMLE for gwad sake.
