It's ok being a shooting nerd or even a geek , the danger is becoming an anal shooting geek or nerd .

I like taking guns to pieces and putting them back together cleaned or refurbished , always did like taking things apart and trying to improve them but never considered myself a geek or a nerd .
I have had a goatee on many occasions or full beard depending on how cold it is outdoors .
As for females who don't tinker with guns do they tinker with men who do tinker with guns ?
Life is just full of mysteries .

Not a geek nor a nurd but always been mad about shooting and guns

Not only is there a link between not liking football (or in my case not even liking to hear any sports commentary on the tv sign01 ) but a definite link between guns and motorbikes etc, it must just be a mechanical thing.....

Where have all my daffs gone zzzzom

I didn't realise there was so much to shooting until I started, but after that moment of clarity I knew I'd turned in to a lifer. I've always pulled things apart to fix them or to see how they worked, I certainly like detail and shooting's full of it. I'd never consider myself a geek or a nerd, but I guess those idiots that don't know how anything works might look at me that way! :run:

on the different disciplines, I think they are all nerdy. Some just hide it well. I'll bet when the practical shotgun crew get behind closed doors they don thick glasses and pacamacs.. Closet nerds!
Actually once the doors are closed and blinds drawn thats when we put on a Rambo or Police Academy DVD for tips

Well Mrs T does!!!!

She also wants to learn how to home load (alchemy and black magic) and for me to show her how to clean her Beretta 92"a like" - Hmmmmm wonder why that is.....it hasn't been fired in a while...maybe she's planning a quickie divorce..... :o :o

Old eyesight makes taking apart a pain in the rear so tent to avoid if I can. Can't handle mil-dots and mil-rads etc so just point, shoot and adjust...usually works.

The Viking used to be very quick at stripping the SVD in her day, certainly it was just a matter of seconds. That was many years ago and these days such things seem to be mostly my responsibility. She has been muttering about light strikes on her 22C and I have told her if she gives me the bolt I will take a look for her. No sign of the bolt yet...

"I like taking guns to pieces and putting them back together cleaned or refurbished"

Absolutely nothing wrong with that and, to be honest, I see stripping and cleaning most rifles as an almost zen-like task. This is mainly because it is mind-numbingly dull, so it is unlikely to ever lead me to enlightenment.
