Where Can I Shoot?

Why no though gaz? The guidance doesn't stipulate what you must or must not use to zero when you have permission to shoot over land. Only that you can zero and have no clear guidance on the number of shots

I can't see you being able to shoot there as an approved range, unless approved by the HO.

The H.O. approve clubs not the ranges they shoot on. In the past the army inspected civilian ranges in addition to military ones and issued range safety certificates. They ceased doing this many years back and since then other systems of "approval" have been put in place.
