ACPO FELWG

#1 Post by IsleShoot »

Whilst idly searching the Internet over breakfast I stumbled upon the Association of Chief Police Officers, Firearms and Explosives Licensing Working Group (ACPO FELWG).

Whilst I was aware of the ACPO I'd never heard of FELWG but the minutes of their bi-annual meetings (March & October), do make good reading, particularly if you've been through a recent application, variation and/or renewal recently!

In addition, there was a thread on here a few weeks ago about a 9mm lever release LBP, well it would appear from the FELWG March & October 2012 minutes that a decision has been made to categorise a .45 lever action pistol in the National Firearms Licensing Management System (NFLMS) as a carbine.
I therefore assume this type of firearm has now received approval and if anyone finally produces one they'll be available as section 1 firearms?

No sign of the Oct '13 minutes as yet but with March just round the corner they should be posted soon. I'm already looking forward to the next instalment!

FELWG minutes are the only insight we get into ACPO's corporate attitude towards firearms licensing.

I think most of them have only seen firearms on TV, bar a handful of exceptions.
