Handgun ban: safeguards and laws useless if ignored - by me

#1 Post by Gaz »

Last week, Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party, said the UK’s handgun ban should be repealed. Coming at the end of a week where Farage had turned himself into a political punchbag, this prompted almost every newspaper in the land to publish articles scorning him for his stupidity. Except – and I know I won’t be popular for saying this – Farage was right.

Yours truly writing for, amongst others, the good burghers of Dunblane. I'm fully expecting to be declared persona non grata by Wee Eck if they ever get their referendum victory.

I agree with everything you say about our sport in the article; thank you for speaking out so well on our behalf.

Thanks Gaz,
What are the chances of getting any of your journo mates interested and hooked on shooting sports?

Crikey Gaz, that was a bit wishy washy by your standards however it was also very good at the same and well done for getting it into 'print'. Is the article your property or does it belong to the Courier?

I would love to do that. Main thing is range time, guns, ammo and coaches (=£££). Perhaps the NRA would help out by organising a "media day" to show off what we do and let the journos get their hands on some hardware for the fun factor?

It was, but with only 500 words to play with it had to be. It's much easier writing for the web, I can take as many words as I like to give people a kicking! Article's mine, licensed to them. But I'd prefer everyone clicked the link - the more web traffic they get from running pro-shooting articles the more likely it is we'll get favourable coverage. No editor commissions unpopular stories, especially in the internet era...

Gaz, well done on getting your thoughts and comments into print. Very succinctly put and the point about the police sergeant wanting to refuse Hamilton's renewal is probably not mentioned by GCN or the police in print. But unfortunately we all know that Politicians would never rescind that bad law. I would love to know the whole truth about who actually overruled the sergeant at Dunblane, and more importantly why! PM me if you know the answer as something smells fishy. I can hazard a guess but that would make me libel.

Funny how the families can get the Hillsborough files released but nobody's pressed to get the Dunblane files unlocked, I reckon they could cause a lot more damage.
