Good 9mm ammunition for Badger

oomans,

We've now added an Armalon 9mm PC carbine to the sett arsenal - http://www.armalon.com/public/products/item/2/
and have a few questions for you.

What ammo do you recommend ? We're going to buy some from here in the short term http://www.ammo-zone.co.uk/(S(kahnemzh2 ... 292~Page~0 and would appreciate a recommendation. We like the sound of the Fiocchi 130gn Magnums at £20 per 50 for starting out, maybe they'd reach out to 300 mards in a carbine ?

Also, where is a good place to purchase magazines * ?

* We got shooed out of W H Smiths...

Expensive choice - reload them!
Buy some used cases or scrounge some if you don't have any.

That's £20 per 100 in boxes of 50.

Slightly cheeper than NRA prices last time I looked.

I would suggest buying some of each and seeing which works best for you,

We shoot pawloads at our indoor club, and they are both cheaper and more accurate than off the shelf canned bangs. However, we can't take them away to use them elsewhere. Buying in all the kit required to pawload would negate the cost advantage, and we don't really have time to learn a new hobby !

The Armalon carbine has a fiddley little spring which seems to help hold the 9mm round against the bolt head. Anyway, if you use magnum loads, this will break. Experience says that Armalon will not send you a replacement, but will ask you to send them the bolt assembly. In the case of my fellow club member, they would not give him a price until they had seen the bolt. I have been attempting to establish the exact dimensions of what loks like a piece of old clock spring---unfortunatley I have not succeeded in making him a new one as I am not yet sure of the shape or that all the spring is represented by the three broken bits. This carbine broke down several times in the hands of its previous owner. It will give long, reliable service if you refrain from actually shooting it. The same shooter has a 45 acp version---this has never given any trouble.

Why?

1) It's not complicated.
2) Unless you only shoot rimfire it will save you money.
3) I won't go as far as saying that it's fun but it's certainly absorbing.

Can't understand why anyone that shoots centre-fire in any reasonable quantity wouldn't reload.
