Yes.
I have seen a set of modern rear sights for a No4 at a very sensible price just recently, now all I have to do is find the link...

The twidly ones go for about £150 now a days I paid £35 for mine back in the dark ages. I have a couple of sets and no they are not for sale.
They are calibrated for yards not that foreign stuff.
I have a couple of scope mounts as well (some were) and a box full of Parker Hale rings.(They are not for sale either.)

have you tried shooting the mk2 ladder type on Meter range like the ones at bisley? im thinking of using it for CSR.Alpha1 wrote:The twidly ones go for about £150 now a days I paid £35 for mine back in the dark ages. I have a couple of sets and no they are not for sale.

Bisley is not a metric range it is in yards. If you are going to fit a target rear sight to a No4 and then shoot in the organised CSR matches, you will be shooting in a different class to the other Enfields. The Enfield Class if I am not mistaken is for 'as issued' rifles. Fitting target sights put you into the 'any iron' class.
The issued ladder sight is more than adequate for shooting in CSR matches out to 600 yds or metres. You do not need 1 MOA accuracy for CSR with a No4, just understand your limitations and shoot the rifle as it was intended. If your rifle is properly zero'd there should be no problem shooting on either an imperial or a metric range. The Mk2 rear sight is calibrated in 1 minute clicks per hundred yds. That means that if you are shooting at say 300yds, one click on the rear sight moves the impact one minute of angle or 3 inches. If you are at 600 yds one click equals 6 inches, etc. There is also no point in wind age adjustable rear sights in CSR or classic matches as wind has to be adjusted for by aiming off and the rear sight has to be set to zero on the wind.

From L-R, the Mk.1, Mk.2 and Mk.3 rearsights. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh30 ... Mk2Mk3.jpg
The Mk.1 is the best sight as it gives precisely graduated adjustments. The Mk.3 ladder sight works alright, but you'll need to know how to aim off for your rifle/ammo combination. Obviously nobody uses the Mk.2 sight!

Re: No4 rear sights
funnily enough I have often used the MK2 "Battle sight" in preference to the ladder types, probably due to my advancing yearsGaz wrote:From L-R, the Mk.1, Mk.2 and Mk.3 rearsights. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh30 ... Mk2Mk3.jpg

Re: No4 rear sights
I was on the range with my number 4 today and I noticed that my sight, a screw thread adjuster type, appears to have smaller marks above the standard yard marks. The gap between these marks and the yard ones gets larger the higher up the sight you go so I'm assuming that they are for metres. Does anyone else have a sight like this and does anyone know if this assumption is correct? I'll post a pic when I'm cleaning the rifle later on.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.
