massive stock of targets help help help

#1 Post by the running man »

Folks after a recent clear out I have a ton of targets......

ok problem or not a problem? The old 1500 human outline silhouette target
the charging man tan colour target the army shoot, and the old pp1 target, now I know the cops and the army shoot them and that ours changed to be not reconiseable as a person, are we allowed to?

Basically can I sell them on? There are thousands....i seem to remember reading that the exact law states that it cant be a specific person target ie a picture of micheal barrymore stapled to a board, but could these be used for practice? I know the 1500 ones could it's just the head bit that puts folk off, not pic enough

Thoughts comments please....

Yeah around the pistol ban all the targets turned "pc" so we went seen to be shooting at targets of people...

I asked this question a whole ago and the answer I got was that there is no law banning them. It seems that their use is simply discouraged.

If individuals at your club are happy to use them then what is stopping them?

There was certainly something concerning "humanoid targets" and them being "prohibited" for use by civilian shooting clubs, which came in around the time of the 1998 Ammendment. Exactly where it is, I can't remember. However, I'm pretty well convinced it's not legislation, but actually may be part of the conditions of Home Office Approval.

Apart from reading about it at the time, Fig 11 and 12's changed from a depiction to a "disruptive pattern", as did the "Elvis" targets and even the Hun's Head changed. Likewise, the UKPSA dropped the "humanoid shape" of head and torso and went for coffin shapes instead..... Err...

I even remember seeing old B27 targets for sale in a gunshop marked up "For Decorative Purposes Only"

There's something there, but what and where, I'm not sure. But, if your club is Home Office Approved you may want to tread carefully till the definitive is sought.

A quick look at McQueens site also states that the sale of some targets are "restricted". What targets, it doesn't stipulate.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
