.308 Load for Ruger GSR
So some of you might have seen in another thread that I've a Ruger GSR. It's got an 18" 1:10 twist barrel and shoots 1 moa with 168gr SMKs. This load is ok for a few shots buts the rifle is very light and if you did 50 or so shots prone you'd know about. I'm thinking of using either the 125 SMK or 135 SMK, anyone have an experience with these?

38.4 gn of H4895 with a 125gn bullet is what I used in my Ishapore scout rifle - very nice, easy shooting load.

Some good .308 bullets available in lighter weights for the M1 Carbine. ..esp. 110 grain FMJ
For other options look to pistol weight bullets, plus as Dromia suggests pure lead bullets.
Other gallery loads can be made with round ball powered by pistol powders.

Thanks but I'm not looking at a gallery load, I really want a 300m reach.

110 vmax shoots really well in my 308 either hand loaded or factory TAP ammo by hornady
Re: .308 Load for Ruger GSR
I think you misunderstood me the M1 Carbine with 110gr is great but I never achieve much with the AR15 from SGC with a 1:10 twist barrel but that was for my gallery rifle shooting at my club range which has mv & me restrictions.saddler wrote:110grain .308 bullets will only travel 299 metres...my bad!
The rifle is now chambered in 300AAC and complies with all restrictions and shoots perfectly.
