Medical records, firearms markers and private companies
With reference to the Health Secretary's plan to make NHS care records available to private companies (which is what I understand the care.data initiative ultimately means), where do we stand with firearms markers being exported onto this database?
Am I wrong in thinking that all of our NHS records have great big "THIS PERSON KEEPS GUNS AT HOME, BEWARE" labels all over them (metaphorically speaking) thanks to police pressure on doctors' unions and the like? If that is right - and I can't remember at the moment - then we have the disturbing situation of firearms' permanent storage locations in private dwellings falling into the hands of any old Tom/Dick/Harry.
Mind you, as three million people already have access to the NHS care database with the "DANGER GUN OWNER" markers on it...

Not sure if it would be flagged as openly as that, certainly the police have it, so if you ever get stopped or go into a police station on a non gun related incident, they will know you possess firearms. However funnily enough they will not know what and how many, they cant get specifics, just the fact you have them. Only the firearms dept have access to what you have.
Lets face it the whole syatem needs an overhaul, but what would happen if they did it??????

The new guidance states that your GP will be made aware of your FAC once granted, instead of just being asked for cause to deny, I think it says it will be kept on your medical record.jdthehun wrote:Not sure if it would be flagged as openly as that

That is not right. Have had el Plod stop and request detail of serial numbers etc from PNC.jdthehun wrote:Not sure if it would be flagged as openly as that, certainly the police have it, so if you ever get stopped or go into a police station on a non gun related incident, they will know you possess firearms. On the general note of care.data, here's how to opt out. Be quick! http://www.care-data.info/

Gaz, thank you for the link, I have to head over to my GP for one of these 'Well man check' thingies so I will discuss it then.
Re: Medical records, firearms markers and private companies
Is it really the time to talk to the GP about this as he gloves up and lubes his fingers.....?!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
