After reading that crock of $hit ill put him in the same basket as that other dic£ Piers Morgan, maybe they are actually trying to outdo each other on their own US anti gun crusades.
What is a Sapper? This versatile genius condenses the whole system of military engineering and all that is useful and practical. He is a man of all work of the Army and the public ready to do anything or go anywhere, in short, he is a Sapper.

I sort of liked Yardley, being a fan of his Facebook page until he started wibbling on about everything except shotguns and single shot 22s being evil. At least I now know the sort of rubbish people spouted in 1997 and 1988.

You would not believe the "support" offered by some sections of the sport towards those that were being denied....

Can you link this thread for Yardley via Facebook? He needs to see what others except his cronies are posting.

And I'm just about to throw this hand-grenade on to a 50000 member, US forum!
Done! Think I might put finger to keyboard myself - after all, I did promise the Backbencher some more shooting related articles. (and come to think of it I've got some more odds and sods about ACPO and licensing to write up)

SimG,

I can pretty much guess the kind of replies you'll get on that forum there mate. 50,000 members who won't or don't give a s*** what some so called expert in the UK thinks. You can count me as one of them.

Splendid, thanks Gaz! :good:
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

It's the same as limiting cars to 70mph because someone piled into a bus stop at 120mph, but most deaths on the road are not due to excess speed.
I believe gun deaths caused by rifles in the USA are a very small minority.
I don't agree with knee-jerk reactions like this, I really don't think a blanket ban on semi auto rifles would make a damn bit of difference. What I am for is some kind of competency training being compulsory or at least strongly promoted.

The situation in the UK is of course completely different, murders by firearm are rare, by legally held ones even more rare. It's hard to say if the handgun and semi auto bans really affected anything. I think we should definitely stand firm against and further attempts to erode our freedoms here, and possibly even push for some restrictions to be lifted.

It's not their opinion I'm after, Blu. The thing is, Yardley also works in the US as a gunwriter and "expert". He was even commissioned by the History Channel or some such organisation, to test the theories, assumptions and profiles of the JFK assassination. I believe he actually grew up, or spent a large amount of his childhood in the US. I've also got a funny feeling he may have dual nationality...

Anyhoo, the point is US side is if Yardly is "going to do a Metcalf", then let them, the shooting public and gun owners, decide if they are prepared to "support" someone such as Yardley and those he's associated with....

I'll tell you now mate that while a few may support him the majority won't as can be seen from his FB page and that's just a few people responding. He calls AR's and other semi's "assault rifles" which they are not, then he goes on to say if civvies can own these type of firearms then how about owning WMD's. This guy wants to be taken seriously with comments like that? He does shooting and the law abiding gun owners a disservice. As can be seen from some of the comments he's already cut his own throat as far as the shooting community here will be concerned.
