flash hiders......controlled part?

I also came accross another odity similar to the above.

when studying for my proromotion exam, I came across something strange regard moderators.
I can't find the wording now, but it was along the lines of it was an offence to have in your possession a moderator without permission in the same calibre as a firearm in your possession.
The obvious question is it then an offence to hold a moderator in a calibre that you dont have a firearm to go on?

I wonder if the wording has been removed recently? I note the home office guidance I read appears to support the use of modderators for both hunting and target shooting.

Not surprised he's wearing Anti-Flash.

His face is covered because he is an active Navy Seal. That's also a 7'' SBR he is shooting. The flash isn't coming back on him either.
Its my muzzle brake on the gun not a flash hider too.

Guys, read Firearms Act 1968 s57(1)

Complicated wording but it all hinges on the firearm that the flash hider is related to. It would appear that a flash hider for a S1 firearm is itself a S1 component and will be controlled as such.
However, it is not itemised on the FAC and you do not need special permission to buy one for a firearm you own. Also you can buy one if you don't have a firearm as it only takes the category of any firearm you put it on. Daft, but that's all firearms laws.

I suppose that makes sense but its still an area that can be viewed with lots of different shades of grey. Muzzle Brakes on the other hand are not a problem. If concerned about the issue don’t attempt to trade or sell a ‘Flash Hider’.
