I want to big up Staffs Force

#1 Post by Charlotte the flyer »

As the title suggests, I have nothing but praise for Staffs Police Firearms Department. I put my ticket in for a variation last Thursday night (They don't seem to mind with you dropping it into the police station that they work out of). It was back with me kin the post this Thursday with the one for one done and the ammunition adjusted as requested. No fuss, just efficient service. The initial grant was slow (12 weeks I think) but after that their service has been exemplary.

I saw 450 Martini's comment in the bayonet thread and didn't want to hijack hence the new post.

off to see a man about a K31 tomorrow now bangbang

Congrats on a quick turnaround. Reading your post prompted me to phone the lincs FD as I'm waiting for a variation. It's only been in 2 weeks for a new calibre and it will be back with me next week. Seems like the midlands teams are on the ball.

Enjoy the K31

West Midlands Police have abandoned their firearms and explosives department and handed the lot over to Stafford. Towards the end of October, I sent in a variation, not knowing,ie not informed, of the change and using the new form. I had a variation to put a 32-40 on ticket, but I decided to use the space for a 320 Rook rifle. I included the details of my Rook Rifle and asked for it to be added. Three to four weeks went by and I then received a phone call, asking :"where did you get that form?". I explained that I had found it on the internet and then another 10 days went by and my request was returned with a letter stating that the new form was un-acceptable and including a copy of the old form. I laboriously filled in the new form and sent it in, again with a request that my Rook Rifle should be added. After another 10 days, my certificate came back correctly varied, but without the rifle added and with a form to notify them of a new firearm purchased. I added the rifle myself, filled in the form and sent it back.
Verdict on Staffs firearms and explosives dept to date? Un-cooperative dimwits, making work for themselves.

Personally i have never had anything but good service from Staffs, they are quite progressive with what they will grant, including permission to aquire many rifles of the same (303 and .45 boxer henry) calibre, and the ability to use them for target and demonstration/exhibition purposes. Quite a few forces insist on seperate rifles one for target and one for playing soldiers.

Yup, sent my ticket in for AOLQ to be added and they sent it back fully updated in less than 2 weeks.
Need to send it in again though for a variation so I'm glad to hear that they are OK with their turnaround times for that as well.
I hear Cathy Warren is working there part time as well; I liked that lady as she was always ready to help when she was at Lloyd House. clapclap clapclap

The fastest turnaround that we have seen at Uttox is two working days :goodjob:
