.308 Down loads
Just wondering if anyone has any input on down loading for .308 such as any load data. recommended powder, bullets or tips and tricks.
The load in question would be for a 700 SP Varmint on a 25m range, a subsonic load could be quite interesting as one of the main reasons behind this is for noise issues.
TIA
Neil

Apparently it scares the cows!

We also need information on downloading 7.62R to shut those nasty M44s up.

The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.
Re: .308 Down loads
The noise issue wont be resolved by downloads ., I have just been trying out some 7.62 with cast lead bullets using 9 gns of unique . fairly consistent but they go with a crack .

Lee C309-113F cast lead bullet sized .309 over 4g Vihtavuori N310 works for me.

Re: .308 Down loads
Hodgdon data for subsonic loads is 8gn of Titegroup or Clays with 168gn bullet - worked for me and my Ishapore.
Also, 10 to 14 grains of Trailboss with a 150gn bullet will get you between 1170-1400fps.

Re: .308 Down loads
Looks like 10gr of trailboss under a 175gr bullet will give a subsonic round according to the chrono test here
