BASC proposes 10 year certificates

#1 Post by Sandgroper »

As per the title - http://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/ ... tificates/

Even though I am a member of BASC and I like the idea of 10 year certificates (for life would be better!), I can't help but wonder if this idea is to soften us up for an increase in the cost of a FAC/SGC.

An increase is coming, to my mind there is no doubt, it's just a matter of how big an increase....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Of course, we could stand up and refuse an increase, make eloquent arguments that society should bear the cost of the legislation they impose upon us. It isn't for our benefit. A quarter of a million voices could make some noise. If we had the balls.

Yeah, knowing my luck, it'll come into effect 6 months before my FAC is up for renewal! sign01

Won't you get a free one when you're old, like TV licences ?

Could be a good idea to offset the police's attempts to make it less attractive to take up shooting properly. If a 10 year certificate ends up costing £100 is that a bad thing for us?

Nothing, but if you were a Politician and kept increasing the pension age would you want to be handing out free FAC/SGCs to the over 75s!
