Subsonic 12g load

#1 Post by CDM5 »

I've got myself a moderated 12 bore semi auto.

Its fine with heavier game loads, but it will not reliably eject and feed the Eley Hushpower ammo.

Is it possible to home load something with a bit of oomph but a heavier load of shot to keep it subsonic?

Excellent. I'll have to invest in a shotgun reloading press next then.

Aren't there any factory produced carts that are suitable?

What do other Hushpower shooters use? Could this be why pumps are the most common choice for quiet work?

I'll try a few different boxes when I take it out tomorrow for a thorough testing.

Its a gas operated Browning B80. I believe that there's a recoil adapter you can get for them but I've not had any luck sourcing one over here.

If you'd been closer you could have used one of mine.

Happy to point you in the direction of what presses are best...esp. as you are using a semi-auto, you'll need to make sure that the press has a taper crimp feature for more reliable feeding
