Move to section 2 for everything. Buy what you want, when you want, just notify the police of the chambering within 7 days of purchase. Job jobbed.

Re: Calibre/Chamber Rules
This is exactly the tack I take over any firearms related matters. If it aint in the law, then it aint in the law and no amount of "local Policies" or "we have always done it like that" makes me go away.meles meles wrote:We've just put in for 5 new variations and only specified the calibre, not the chamber.
We did so deliberately.
That is all the law requires.
That is all Guidance asks for.
We're quite prepared to argue that if Mr Plod requests more, then he is exceeding his authority.
He backed down the last 5 times the situation arose, but now our local constabularies have merged their firearms departments so we may have to bite a few more ankles this time around.
As long as you pick your battles and speak from a position of knowledge then the Firearms Licensing Departments are reasonable.............well usually.

I have a 30 cal and a 9.3mm slot on my Fac which covers a lot of rifles and types of ammo to boot!! tongueout
Re: Calibre/Chamber Rules
I am impressed with the 9,3mm slot as some of the FEO's are unhappy about things like the 9,3x62 and seem to look on it as the basis of a weapon of mass destruction/disruption, whatever.
Re: Calibre/Chamber Rules
They're unhappy! It shouldn't be about them being unhappy or not over what you want or have. Isn't it about them making sure that you keep your firearms secure and stuff. If so WTF has them being unhappy got to do with anything?ovenpaa wrote:I am impressed with the 9,3mm slot as some of the FEO's are unhappy about things like the 9,3x62 and seem to look on it as the basis of a weapon of mass destruction/disruption, whatever.

Obviously you didn't do anything wrong, otherwise they would have been all over you like a rash!greenshoots wrote:i put in for a 44 cal variation ended up with a 444, when fac dept found out i recieved a bollocking via letter stating no action will be taken this time

I Already have a .444 marlin so a 9.3 x 62 or 74r etc was not a problem for my Firearms dept. They just said if I had a good reason then I could have a 9.3mm Simples!!!. just trying to find a left handed bolt action or a nice sxs that I can afford now.ovenpaa wrote:I am impressed with the 9,3mm slot as some of the FEO's are unhappy about things like the 9,3x62 and seem to look on it as the basis of a weapon of mass destruction/disruption, whatever.
I do live in Cumbria which helps a bit.

Re: Calibre/Chamber Rules
Just had the chat with the FLO he was happy that 7.62 covered any chambering, even .308!
