I wouldn't like to go too close with the hold/buy limits as only keeping 100 .22s when buying a batch of 1000 might be difficult, especially if you're shooting regularly.
The rules are changing in, IIRC, Dec to do away with buying limits. From then you'll just have an authorised 'to hold' limit.

Thanks, I'll stick 1000/1500 in for the. 22 then, as for the other, I thought that others recommended the 1000 quantities in order to keep the costs down when purchasing, as the best deals deals are in 1000 + quantities, I'll take it under advisement however.
That's specifically discounted (in the Home Office guidance) as a reason for getting a realistic sized ammo allocation. What you need to say is "I need to buy large quantities of ammo because I shoot competitively and therefore need the consistency of a single batch of ammo".

Mind you, your FEO may well do what my old one did, which was to listen to my explanations in detail, agree with them verbally, and then completely ignore them on issuing my FAC, giving me fewer firearms than I needed and less ammo than I need for competitions. Then again, I'm aware that individual has a history of cocking things up so perhaps that was just my bad luck.

I would suggest that in the Reason for acquiring each firearm you use Target Shooting and in the where, On Ranges Approved for that calibre of firearm whilst as a member of whatever club you belong to. If you specify a specific range you may end up with a restriction on your FAC that limits you to that range only.

Thanks I'll do that, on my question about spaces on the 101 form, sshould I just attach a separate piece of paper? As there'sonly room for five.

Yes, just attach a A4 sheet with the extras on it, laid out in exactly the same way as the F101 using the same headings.

If you use the 101 from Sussex police you can fit loads on :D

Yeah Groper, I've seen the new forms, will be interested to see how the FEOs handle that! Also, not sure what they'll do about current FACs and the new changes, probably just leave it for renewal I guess.
Sconie, I've not seen bulk deals on 1000 for larger calibres, only 500 but you may be right!

Hi Sconie;

In relation to a particular calibre of firearm, my FLO won't entertain any 'broad brush' requests i.e. .308 / 7.62 without the corresponding cartridge length designator. I would suggest that the term .308 is generally accepted as the Winchester .308 cartridge and the 7.62 is recognised as the 7.62 x 51 NATO round (not 7.62 x 39), but to save yourself any hassle, particularly when dealing with some RFD's I would be specific and give the full calibre description of the firearm you require. Your mileage where you live may differ however.

It might just be me but your wish list also looks a bit on the optimistic side for an initial personal FAC issue. Good luck with it anyway. :good:

Well that's it in the post, thanks for all the advice folks, I opted for 1500 / 1000 for the. 22 and 800 /500 for the rest, as I have a few historic rifle calibres in there, I did specify the full calibre of those.

I may be being optimistic in my multiple selection, but if you don't ask you don't get, I have five years to build my little collection up and I'm sure there will be further variations in due course, but I don't want to be spending £26 every other month.

Many thanks to you all again, the licencing office told me turn round is a week right now, so I'll update you as soon as I know.

FLO is coming for another visit to discuss my requirement for each rifle and check my cabinet for space for the guns and the moderators/ammo, I had thought that I required them for using at ranges for target shooting would suffice?, as for cabinet space, the cabinet can take seven scoped rifles so is deep, the 10.22 and the. 38 Marlin could even be top and tailed?, I do have an ammo safe at the top of the cabinet but I'll need extra ammo capacity, as for the four moderators, I would again have thought that they could be fitted to the rifles as it's a tall cabinet or stood inside the cabinet on the floor?

Any advice on how I should approach this visit?

Cheers
