RPA International

A couple of other places are commenting on rumours of RPA International going bust, anyone heard anything to this effect? I did read an article a few days ago about RPA demonstrating rifles to the Libyan government end of last year but as it was with a larger group of UK defence companies I would not expect it to be related.

I've been bust and am still suffering badly from it, so I wish them the best of good fortune.

RPA - I like the rifles but dislike the attitude of the people selling them, they remind me of BMW salesmen.

Last year I met one of the new RPA salesmen in my local shop, he seemed like a really nice nice guy. I've phoned RPA a couple of times concerning mine, both with queries and accessories, always had top service. But, like with everything in the consumer world, people's experiences can vary greatly.

I know sales of RPA in my local store are going really well. At one time they had only sold one in three years..... to me! But now, they are doing a couple a month. Granted not massive, but if one little shop is evident as to what is happening all over the country, then perhaps they are doing OK.

Now I did hear a couple of rumours about RPA in the last 18 months or so. One was that they actually have more .50 cal sniper rifles in service with military and police worldwide, than any other manufacturer. The second one was due to the first, that Ronnie Barratt did their legs with Leupold when they were close to fulfilling an overseas contract and that cost them a lot of money.

I love my RPA Interceptor and trust me, I've owned a lot of rifles in my time. It is a keeper for I know I would have to spend an awful lot of money to replace it with a comparable piece of kit. And, it's British made!

My only complaint is that perhaps they need to offer more calibers to the sporting public.....

This leads me to CK's comment about the NRA, double standards.
Again we should be allowed to say what we think about the NRA and BASC for that matter.

How are we doing that Rob?

All I have read is positive things about RPA so far, in fact I am yet to read an adverse comment on a public forum. (I have been made aware of issues privately) My take is make enough of anything and regardless of quality checks something will slip through, Toyota being a recent example.

As far as I am concerned RPA make great rifles, I did find the salesman rather condescending though. I ride a BMW motorbike, BMW Motorrad are many times bigger than RPA or AI and they also produce excellent products. Sadly the salesmen are invariably muppets.

There is no doubt about the quality or accuracy of RPA rifles, and they are beautifully made. The problem they seem to have was the same as Accuracy International. If they are involved in a Military or law enforcement contract the general public are left out in the cold, once the contract has been fulfilled they welcome us with open arms again.

The problem with both AI and RPA is (as far as they are concerned) they make rifles that cannot be improved so they tend to over look the wishes of the public. Trigger boxes was a prime example with AI. Despite this we will continue to buy the products because we know we are getting the very best of type available.
