You can't steal intelllectual property per se, so I presume you mean infringe copyright in this particular context. Successive governments in the US, UK, Australia and NZ have extended the terms of copyright after lobbying by the content creation industry (Disney in particular) to the point where it will never expire and therefore ceases to fulfil its original function. Copyright as a concept is nearly dead as a result, so I don't really have a lot of sympathy.

OK, rant over. More to the point, blocking technology is pretty crude and the rate of false positives pretty high (see El Reg for examples of this.) Cupcake Kid is spot on.

Added to that is how they run their systems. I interviewed two ex-TT employees recently, and the cheapness they go to is unheard of. Find a small ISP if you can. You pay a bit more but you get much better service.

On the basis of the report from the OP in this thread BASC has asked TalkTalk to unblock Valmont Firearms

The common theme with shooting websites being blocked by content filters whether on broadband internet, mobile phones, in libraries, on WiFi, etc. is that if we do nothing, nothing will change, so its very much about people getting involved for the good of all.

If you have experienced blocked access to shooting websites using Homesafe or any other content management programmes please let BASC know immediately. The more examples of incorrectly categorized websites received, the more likely it will be that similar sites won’t be blocked in the future.

Click here for a BASC webpage that lists which websites have already been unblocked and which have been reported to TalkTalk. You can use the webpage to report sites to us and we will get it sorted. If you prefer post the feedback on this thread or email me direct at conor.ogorman@basc.org.uk

Thanks Connor,
