Jesus H! As if allowing the RSPCA access to the Police National Computer (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/07/30 ... _computer/) wasn't bad enough!BASC has written to the chief constables of ten police forces seeking formal assurances that they do not allow the RSPCA to have access to firearms licensing information. This follows a report in the Telegraph on 10th August that these forces have information-sharing agreements with RSPCA and that this may include information held about people on the National Firearms Licensing Management System.

Re: RSPCA potentially has access to firearms licensing data!
Scratch the "potentially" - they DO have access to the National Firearms Licensing Management System via at least two police forces. Just spoken to a lovely lady at the Countryside Alliance who forwarded me the incriminating documents. Story to follow tomorrow on The Register.
Re: RSPCA potentially has access to firearms licensing data!
Well I would suggest that this is IL3 level data and that the Police should be compliant with the usage of that data and who they pass it on to, how it is stored at rest, how it is transmitted etc.
I recommend you contact PSN / ICO with any information you have as this seems to be a bit of a data breach.

Maybe even the Data Protection Registrar, what has it to do with RSPCA who has firearms!

Re: RSPCA potentially has access to firearms licensing data!
Story should come out on Monday - it's too good to pop it out on a Friday afternoon when not that many people will notice it. Suffice to say, the idea that a private organisation can obtain and store details of FAC and SGC holders perfectly legally, outside of any formal controls, worries the hell out of me.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
