Re: Dambusters - All their photos
All their names are on a memorial in the village that I stay in during the week. Very moving to read; many were from the Commonwealth.

Brave lads. At an Air Museum in Yorkshire there is a Halifax bomber. Alongside it a story of a 19 year old pilot who flew same bomber that was shot to hell back from Germany after a raid....they had guts then. Salutes.

A noble sentiment, and worthy of a salute. But, oomans, there are many brave young men around these days too: we know, we have had the privilege of commanding some of them. Remember them too.

Agreed badger, they are brave folks - they are also better equipped than those lads of the first two wars. That is not meant to demean them in anyway.
Can you imagine a soldier going into combat today wearing a flimsy combat jacket and nowt else...? No Kevlar, armour or medivacs. A lot has changed since those earlier wars, for example medical aid and plastic surgery. Life expectancy and quality of life after injury is much improved - I hope..
