Badger shoots pawloaded .303

Well oomans, we've finally done it ! Shot a pawload...

We have a nice Winchester .303 P14 in superbulous condition but, given the scarcity of .303 and its high price, we don't shoot it often. After reading much advice on this forum, and consulting with Dromia and Dodgyrog, we took the plunge and decided to try a reduced power load so that we could shoot in the warmth and comfort of an indoor range. Naturally, lacking an opposable thumb, we had to get a bald monkey to pour the powder for us but they are abundant cheap labour...

We used flat nosed 115 grain cast boolits with 6 grains of Trailboss in once fired Privi cases - fireformed in our own P14 and then full sized. The resulting rounds chambered smoothly and shot confusingly well at 25 yards. Confusingly because we could only see 3 holes in the black on a 50 m ISU 50m target after firing 5 rounds. Closer examination showed two 2 round holes with a single hole just joining these two pairs. We think that's quite good considering we were using the battle sights.

Nice one! - I wan't to try some 'indoor' .303 loads at some point...

You've got to try some full loads now...it's a doddle with .303...almost any safe load (made consistently) with a cheap PPU bullet (25p a round) can be twice as accurate as canned bangs....

You are incredibly lucky to have a forward thinking, supportive club who will let you shoot indoors. If only everywhere was as open minded.

Oh, we find that's an advantage of consorting with bald monkeys, most of them are pretty empty headed. Is that the same as open minded?

Nice to see you taking a further step to loading your own, a most satisfying aspect of the sport. But, why fire form then full length resize? FL sizing kind of defeats the object of using fire formed brass...
