RE-15 does work better for group but velocity is too low (2850) unfortunately.
I know of nowhere selling the win branded powder. The IMR4895 angle is my next plan.

Re: powder alternative
How much are you using ? I'm up to 48gr with a 155gr SMK, as I said works for meMr_Logic wrote:RE-15 does work better for group but velocity is too low (2850) unfortunately.
What is a Sapper? This versatile genius condenses the whole system of military engineering and all that is useful and practical. He is a man of all work of the Army and the public ready to do anything or go anywhere, in short, he is a Sapper.

Like other folks who have commented, I'm surprised that N140 hasn't done the business as I used to swear by it. How much playing with the load have you done?
I've swapped to TR140 on the grounds of cost and still get excellent results. I also know that the importer of TR140 is looking at importing a double-base equivalent of N540/Reloader15 which you might want to consider trying when it comes out.
Good luck.

Re: powder alternative
Was using 46gr but got pressure any higher.
have spent some time with it but I've tended to use scenars with it. Need to get some more Sierras ideally.

It depends what velocity you are trying to achieve.GazMorris wrote:Like other folks who have commented, I'm surprised that N140 hasn't done the business as I used to swear by it. How much playing with the load have you done?

The IMR needs a tad more than H for the same velocities (about .6gr)
N140 works for a lot of loads, I use it for most things but go to IMR for the longer ranges as it just seems to burn that bit more consistently.
H4895 seemed to be the be all and end all once it got out that a certain WC used it.
I did get some silly speeds out of my rig it is true, but the bullets didn't like it.
I was forced to use IMR and wont be using H again unless I have to.....they are not the same powder, the H is less temp sensitive by all accounts.
47.3 N140 or IMR produces 3065 or 3082 FPS respectively in my Dolphin, but it is the ES that I was worried about and the IMR takes it.
The H is faster still, but I was stripping jackets and I can achieve the same velocity (that I dropped to, nicely within HME) with IMR, with a nice ES
