Gempro 250 & Omega powder trickler

A couple of weeks back I ordered these from two seperate dealers in the USA

They arrived this week and I have had a chance to play with them, if not actually put some rounds together.

I had not fully understood how accurate the Gempro scales were untill I could not get it to zero then noticed a tiny spec of something sitting in the pan. These seriously can weigh a kernal at a time. When dropping the powder on the pan the read out was fast but not fast enough to keep up with the trickler on fast, no dought I will quickly work out how fast I can go and when to slow down.

The Omega powder trickler uses vibration to trickle the powder out. My test powder was some Viht 540 and even on fast was a trickle. Initial set up had me place the spout around an inch above the pan of the scales. This was too high with
kernals bouncing out of the shallow pan and over my work surface. Once lowered to almost touching the pan saw all the powder dropping in the pan. I was relieved to see that the vibrations did not upset the scales.

I am confident that this set up will give me the ability to make much more consistant ammunition but I doubt that I have the time nor patience to make rounds to .01 of a grain.
A nice touch is that both units use batteries. I have often pondered how possible it would be to actually do load development on the range, with this set up I can see that it would be possible.

I bought some of these scales back in April and they are so much better than the lyman ones I had before. They seem to be very accurate and more importantly if you weight the same thing several times, you get the same reading. The lyman ones I had read to .1 grain but had an accuracy of +/- .1grain which basically made them useless even if they could give you the same answer twice in a row. These go down to .02gr. So much better.

Had I not agreed to buy through flea bay, I would have backed out and got it from the UK dealer. Only £10 more but a lot easier to deal with should there be any warrenty issues later on,

I know what you mean, I've had patchy results with foreign sellers. Sometimes stuff never turns up, or arrives out of the blue months later. I once bought some GU10 halogen sockets not realising they were coming from China. They were only a couple of quid, so ordered again from UK seller. China ones evenyually appeared 3 months later, we'd already given up on them ever coming. So I avoid now as a rule.

Have you come across any good counting scales by any chance ? I'm finding I spend a lot of time counting bullets and cases and it would be much easier just to weigh the buggers and hav ethe scales count 'em

Why not use something like the RCBS Charge Master to throw the powder to within say 0.2 grains them transfer to your mega accurate scale & trickler?

It's what I'm contemplating at the moment...

You could throw a charge to that precision in a fraction of the time it would take a Chargemaster to dispense.

I've been wondering about that Blu since my post, I've only ever used a chargemaster so can't comment on the speed of a trickler or beam scale

I have been looking for more accurate loads since starting shooting F/TR so would love to know opinions.
