Electronic Ear Defenders

#1 Post by User702 »

So I scored a nearly new set of Peltor Tactical XP leccy ear muffs for a bargain price last week and, when they arrived this morning, found out that they are the version with a boom mic and an integrated cable to hook the whole lot into a radio system. Now that I have found out the whole lot will fit under a Mk7 (which is good) I got to wondering how I could use the ancillary bits for my own gain, i.e. plugging into my phone for music and calls.

The socket is an XLR 4 pin one (not the standard jack type) and looks to support mono audio and a mono, unbalanced mike. CPC list parts at less than 2 quid for the male XLR plug and a 4 pole 3.5mm jack, but I was wondering if anyone here has done something similar and, if so, did it work?
